Transhield, Inc.

Transhield, Inc. is a global supplier of custom fit covers offering a patented alternative to conventional hand wrapping, for shipping and storage protection for a variety of industries, including wind power applications. These covers are easy to apply, can be removed quickly and easily and in many cases are reusable.

Transhield wind power application covers are an alternative for heavy, expensive custom tarps or conventional hand wrapping with the added ability to shrink the cover for a tight fit, resulting in quality protection for wind power products including root end sections, tower sections, blades and other products. These custom fit covers offer protection against dirt and water during shipping and storage for a smoother transition from factory to field. Various openings can be designed into the covers allowing zipper or Velcro openings for access or different trailer configurations with wind tower section covers.

Made from Shrinkable Fabric™, Transhield covers consist of three layers: an outer layer that is UV-resistant and anti-condensation, the middle layer is a hot melt adhesive containing no solvents and a soft, cloth-like polyester inner layer. These covers feature the patented Adhesive Additive Delivery – Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (AAD-VCI) system which provides 100% protection from corrosion during transportation and storage. This unique non-abrasive composition protects against the elements during transportation and storage without causing damage to paint, gel coats or decals of products.

Transhield covers also serve other industries including military, industrial, marine, RV, HVAC, powersports, locomotive, aerospace and special applications.

If you’ve been considering such a change, then the Wind Industry may be exactly what you’re wishing for. This industry offers the individual a career in utilizing hands-on skills coupled with specialized technical training and a developed sense of technical problem solving.

This career is in high demand the world over with both land -based and off-shore operations. Should you choose to travel, you can find wind turbines operating in more than 160 countries around the globe. If your interest is more focused here at home, you can still find numerous opportunities. There are thousands of standing turbines working throughout the United States located at wind farms from one end of this country to the other.

Our instruction here at the MARET Center located on the campus of Crowder College in Neosho, Missouri, will offer you the opportunity to operate and maintain a working turbine as part of your learning experience and wind energy education. Your courses of study will include electronics and electrical systems equipment. Coupled with this, you will be learning about hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC’s and computer controls. At the heart of this, you will study the specific functions and operations of modern utility-scale wind turbines operated at hundreds of wind farms across the nation.

At our facility we will emphasize safety first and all of the necessary concerns that will be needed to successfully enter the wind industry. We will encourage and train you in every reasonable measure to practice these skills and realize their extreme importance for a long and satisfying career. You will be trained in tower access and expected to go up-tower for inspections, repair and general maintenance under the supervision of trained and experienced professionals. You will be trained in OSHA rules and regulations, working at height, CPR, First Aid and AED.

Examples of different courses that will be taken throughout your experience here at the MARET Center will be such class material as:
• Introduction to Wind Principles
• Wind Turbine Troubleshooting and Repair

The Osceola County Economic Development Commission commenced operations on July 1, 1988. It was established as a non-profit 28E organization under Iowa law. Chapter 28E organizations are defined as the joint exercise of governmental powers with the purpose to permit local governments to make efficient use of their powers by enabling them to provide joint services and facilities with other agencies and to cooperate in other ways of mutual advantage. OCEDC is a separate entity for all legal purposes and serves each contributing unit of local government.

An intergovernmental agreement was made between Osceola County and the Cities of Ashton, Harris, Melvin, Ocheyedan and Sibley. Each of these units of local governments adopted resolutions approving and executing the constitution of the OCEDC.

The Osceola County Economic Development Commission is governed by a Board of Directors, which consists of an appointed representative from each of the six governmental entities in the County (Harris, Ocheyedan, Ashotn, Melvin, Sibley and Osceola County). These Directors serve on a voluntary basis with no remuneration and are invaluable to the achievement of the goals of the Commission.
